Hi.

I’m Craig.

I realize, if tradition stands, I should probably write this in the third person, as though a professional scribe lovingly penned my biography, lamenting over each noun and predicate, languishing over every prepositional phrase. I should recount events composing my elaborate history while waxing nostalgic about past adventures, careful to remark how “those were the good ol’ days.” You know, the usual.

I just can’t do that to you.

I’ve worked on this piece 3 times now, painting it in the broadest, most conventional strokes. But the words seem obtuse. Dull. Worse yet, inhuman.

So instead, I'm going to tell you who I’ve become.1

I’m a creative. That best encapsulates who I am. I concoct wild, occasionally elaborate, usually simple ideas in my head (or with a team) and determine a roadmap to execute those ideas in a way that communicates the message as creatively, as concisely as possible. I use cartoons, illustration, design, code, iconography, and language as tools to suit each specific project I encounter. I use statistics to validate my approach, when possible, or to determine a new course of action, when necessary. I adapt.

I’m adaptively creative in a statistically validating manner.

Boing.

If you’re curious about some of my work, you can check out the home page of this site. It’s cool — everybody's doing it.

I live with my wife, two children, and a few English Setters just north of Cincinnati, somewhere between the corn fields and numerous Starbucks in southern Ohio, which is, in turn, located in northern North America, just south of Canada, yet north of South America.

  1. Trust me, the pilgrimage to get here is far less interesting than the daily quest of, having arrived, remaining. That said, my formal background includes a few years at Ohio University, followed by graduation from the Joe Kubert School of Graphics and Illustration.
